Wet Weekend on Tap for Desert

Thunderstorms expected to hit the desert cities Saturday afternoon

Thunderstorms and heavy showers are forecast starting mid-day Saturday and going through Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters say that a large surge in humidity and moisture from the east is the reason behind the storms that may also bring high wind gusts, heavy downpours, and possible hail.

The NWS says that the total rainfall will be light during the weekend storms, less than .25 inches, but that it may come in a short period of heavy showers.
