Members Sought For New Art Museum

A membership campaign has been launched for the Palm Springs Art Museum's new Palm Desert location.

The Palm Springs Art Museum's upcoming Palm Desert location is actively seeking "Friends of Palm Desert" members as part of a recently launched membership campaign.

“We are currently finalizing a terrific roster of Founder’s Society members—generous donors who have contributed $25,000 toward the initial funding of the museum’s building and renovation campaign," said Greg Polzin, Director of Fundraising and Development.

He said "Friends of Palm Desert" donors will need to contribute at least $5,000 a year to assist with the museum's operating costs.

"We are asking new Friends to make a three year commitment at this level,” Polzin said.

Palm Desert residents also can become regular members now of the museum not slated to open until March 2012, and enjoy all the benefits at the Palm Springs location because memberships to one location automatically double as memberships to the other.

The cost is $50, and anyone interested should contact Becky Moreno, Membership Manager, at bmoreno@psmuseum.org or 760-322-4848.

The "Friends of Palm Desert" category, though, is targeted toward a special group of high-end donors who call the valley home (or a part-time home) and have the dollars to spend on building a museum presence in their neck of the woods.

These donors will receive their own set of special perks for their support including names listed on a special plaque at the new location, special invitations to elite museum events, and special VIP preview tours before important exhibitions and events among other things. Interested parties can contact Greg at gpolzin@psmuseum.org.

Renovations to the building and the installation of outdoor sculptures in the garden will begin this fall in preparation for a spring 2012 opening.
