New Palm Springs Hard Rock to Host Fashion Weekend, Film Festival

The Hard Rock Hotel in Palm Springs, which is slated to open this fall, announced Friday it will host Palm Springs Fashion Weekend events and a horror film festival.

Hard Rock International, which has 18 hotels around the world, is working with Kittridge Hotel Management to turn the Hotel Zoso at 150 S. Indian Canyon Drive into the Hard Rock. The 163-room hotel is scheduled to open Oct. 4, and is taking reservations.

The hotel is also partnering with Troupe Productions, a Palm Springs- based entertainment firm with connections to Hollywood, according to spokeswoman Therese Everett-Kerley.

"The creative vision behind Troupe Productions dovetails beautifully with our commitment to offering edgy and sophisticated entertainment at the Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs," said hotel general manager Hector Moreno.

On Oct. 25-27, the hotel will host events for the inaugural Palm Springs Fashion Weekend, including a VIP party and public events.

On Oct. 31-Nov. 3, the hotel will serve as headquarters for Feartastic, a horror film festival. Eight films will screen at Camelot Theatres, and event promoter BB Ingle will organize a "Monster Rock Ball," Kerley said.

The hotel will have a spa and gym, gift shop, restaurant, lobby bar, pool and fire pits, along with 20,500 square feet of ballroom and banquet facility space and a business center.

In keeping with a music theme, the hotel will feature a VIP "rock star" suite, music memorabilia, and a program called "Sound Of Your Stay" allowing guests to download a personal playlist, play Fender guitars and mix music tracks.
