Old Town La Quinta to Host Holiday Weekend Festivities

If you shop on Black Friday, you'll get to see some live entertainment, and if you shop Saturday-- you'll get $20 if you spend $100 for Small Business Saturday.

The following was submitted on behalf of Old Town La Quinta:

Old Town La Quinta announced Wednesday its plans to entertain and reward holiday shoppers this Friday and Saturday, November 23 & 24.

On Black Friday, back for their fourth consecutive year by popular demand, the Boys & Girls Club Band, Heatwave Jazz & Show Band, will play on the Old Town Event Lawn from 3:00-5:00pm.

“It’s become a great tradition having Heatwave make Black Friday in Old Town even more fun,” said Leslie Locken, property manager of Old Town La Quinta.

On Saturday, Old Town La Quinta will take part in the initiative known as ‘Small Business Saturday’ – which began as a way to support smaller retailers since Black Friday is often focused on the deep discounting of national stores the day after Thanksgiving.

Old Town La Quinta will be supporting its small businesses by presenting a $20 gift certificate to shoppers who’ve spent a total of $100 or more at Old Town shops. The gift certificate can be used within the next year and with any merchant in Old Town. Receipts must represent sales at Old Town retailers on Saturday, November 24, only. Receipts can be cumulative, one certificate per person. Patrons should show their receipts and pick up their gift certificate at The Wine Bar that same day.

“The concept of Small Business Saturday is great because it encourages customers to shop local,” said Shawna Risnes, owner of Tarah Jade Boutique in Old Town La Quinta. “We have so many unique gift and holiday items in our stores that you can’t find at the superstores or online, and we think rewarding customers for coming in and shopping with us is a wonderful idea.”

Old Town La Quinta is centrally located in the quaint La Quinta Village, lining the community’s Main Street with restaurants, boutiques, spa/salon services, gift shops and more. Old Town showcases art shows, a weekly organic farmers' market September-May and other seasonal events. For more information, go to www.oldtownlaquinta.com  or contact Leslie Locken at 760.777.1770.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Dorothy you actually believe criminals can't get guns without a background check. Wow are youRead More naive. Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Typical liberal double standard at play here??

Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
