Palm Desert Business Wins Google Video Contest

Koolfog's video was selected to be one of three California businesses on the YouTube homepage on Friday.

A video created by Palm Desert-based , a small manufacturing company, was selected by Google to be featured on the homepage of YouTube this Friday.

The "My Business Story" contest, which was put on by American Express and Google, sought out videos from small businesses across the country.

Bryan Roe, who created the winning video, said he decided to enter the contest after receiving an e-mail.

“I thought maybe there would be a way to get a little more exposure" for Koolfog, Roe said.

The video, which features Roe talking about the 25-year-old business, shows off the company’s ability to create fog, cool off people (and animals) on a hot day and generate special effects.

“It will be curious to see how many people are actually clicking on this,” he said.

In addition to the prominent spot on the YouTube homepage, each winning business will receive $5,000 AdWords spend from American Express, according to Winnie King, a spokesperson for Google.

“The contest winners were chosen based on the role that they play to support their community, a demonstrated ‘customer first’ mentality and pride in servicing their customers, and demonstrated innovation,” King said.
