Palm Desert, Valley Eateries Gear Up for Restaurant Week 2013

With just over two weeks until the annual Restaurant Week returns to the Coachella Valley, it's time to start checking out your local dining options.

Eat. See. Stay.

That's the theme of this year's Palm Springs Desert Resorts Restaurant Week, which will be held at restaurants throughout the Coachella Valley from May 31 through June 16.

This year, there are more than 70 participating eateries, all offering up three-course, prix fixe dinner menus available for $26 or $38 per person.  La Quinta, Palm Springs, Indian Wells, Desert Hot Springs, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Cathedral City, and Indio all have restaurants in the program— a significant growth since restaurant week's local inception just six years ago.

"Founded in 2007, Palm Springs Desert Resorts Restaurant Week showcases the diverse dining and leisure opportunities in the city of Palm Springs and surrounding communities of the greater Coachella Valley," a press release from the group says.  "In just six years this annual event has grown from fewer than 30 participating restaurants, hotels, and attractions to more than 100."

Though most Palm Desert locals will likely focus on the first of the three objectives— the "eating" part— there are also several "staycation" options being offered up at local hotels with discounted rates.
