Palm Springs Aerial Tram Annual Maintenance Complete, to Re-Open Saturday

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, which closed for annual maintenance on Aug. 10, will re-open as scheduled on Saturday Aug. 31, a spokeswoman for the attraction said Thursday.

The tram's infrastructure and buildings sustained no damage during recent storm activity, Lena Smith of the Aerial Tramway said before noon Aug. 29.

The first tram car up will be at 8 a.m., the last tram car up is scheduled at 8 p.m. and the last tram car down will be 9:45 p.m. Trams leave at least every 30 minutes on the hour and half-hour.

The shutdown for maintenance was scheduled in August this year because tram officials plan to celebrate the attraction's 50th anniversary in September, according to Rob Parkins, the tramway's general manager.
