Palm Springs POWER Plans Father's Day Festivites

Palm Desert Westfield Mall will be the sponsor of the POWER Baseball Father's Day Game.

The Palm Springs POWER Baseball team visited the Westfield Mall in Palm Desert on Saturday, June 18, to sign autographs for their fans.

“The signing event was also a way for them to promote the Father’s Day game,” said Westfield Mall Marketing Director, Jenna McLaster.

The game will be sponsored by the , and will be played Sunday night at the Palm Springs Stadium.

There will be special contests and promotions for the fathers in attendance.

“One of the contests will be Dizzy Bat, and the first father to run and tag Rocky the Mascot wins,” said Tim McConkey, POWER Marketing Director.

Dizzy bat is played by bending over and pressing your forehead to the tip of the bat’s handle, and spin around numerous times until one becomes dizzy, and then that person races.

It is a very popular game played by both children and adults and the crowd seems to love it.

In addition to the special Father’s Day events, the POWER organization will also host its weekly “Bark in the Ballpark," an event that is held every Sunday.

Dog owners can bring their pets into special sections of the stadium to watch the game, explained McConkey.

The Palm Springs POWER will play at home against the So Cal Athletics.

Opening pitch was set for  7:05 p.m., and will be thrown by La Quinta resident, Heidi Zimmer, who won the special honor in a name-drawing contest held Friday  at the Westfield Mall’s new indoor Marketplace.

The Westfield Mall also gave away tickets to the game to the first 50 people to visit the booth that was set up beside the Marketplace.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Dorothy you actually believe criminals can't get guns without a background check. Wow are youRead More naive. Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Typical liberal double standard at play here??

Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
