Tennis Tournament Sees Record Turnout

The record attendance solidifies the BNP Paribas Open's place as the most-attended ATP World Tour and WTA combined event in the world.

The BNP Paribas Open reported 370,408 fans at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, breaking the tournament's attendance record for the sixth year in a row.

The tournament also set a day session attendance record on Sunday, March 11 with more than 24,300 fans coming to the event, according to Matt Van Tuinen, a spokesman for the event.

Van Tuinen said the turnout solidifies the BNP Paribas Open’s place as the most-attended ATP World Tour and WTA combined event in the world.

In the finals, No. 3 Roger Federer . No. 1 Victoria Azarenka of No. 2 Maria Sharapova.

Tickets for the 2013 edition of the tournament (March 4-17), can begin purchasing tickets Wednesday, March 21 when Classic Series ticket packages go on sale. The Classic Series package includes all 21 sessions of tennis and is the tournament’s best value.
