Where Canadians in So Cal Can Watch the 100th Grey Cup Football Showdown

The Calgary Stampeders face the Toronto Argonauts at 3 p.m. Pacific on Sunday in the 100th Grey Cup, and snowbird parties are planned in Southern California to mark the occasion.

Each year the annual showdown is one of Canada's highest-rated television events, as millions coast-to-coast stop to watch at least part of the championship game.

There are at least two snowbird parties planned for Canadians in Southern California, in Palm Desert and in Redondo Beach.

The Coachella Valley event is planned at the Cactus Club at Palm Desert Country Club, 77200 California Drive, Palm Desert.

The Redondo Beach event is planned at Redondo Beach Cafe, 1511 S. Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach.

The 100th Grey Cup will be shown live on cable channel NBCSN, according to listings. Some online sources say the 100th Grey Cup will also be streamed online.

The Grey Cup is often compared to the National Football League Super Bowl, though it predates the Super Bowl era, the Canadian Football League, and the NFL itself.

The first Grey Cup was held in December 1909, according to historians. The University of Toronto Varsity Blues defeated the Parkdale Canoe Club 26–6 before 3,800 fans in Toronto.

The NFL was founded in 1920. The Canadian Football League was founded in 1958. The first NFL Super Bowl was held in January 1967.

The 100th Grey Cup is being held in Toronto.
