Free Reusable Bags from Renova Solar

Renova Solar Offers Free Reusable Bags

With the coming ban on plastic bags, Palm Desert joins three other Valley cities in supporting the model ordinance approved by the Coachella Valley Association of Governments. The other cities already banning the bags are Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs and Indio. Renova Solar would like to help residents in these cities and others switch to reusable bags now by offering them free at their office at 75-181 Mediterranean in Palm Desert off of Cook Street.

“We have had reusable bags available for our visitors and customers for a long time, “ explained Renova CEO/President Vincent Battaglia. “And now, we want to make sure everyone knows we would like to help them effortlessly make this switch at no cost.”

The program in Palm Desert goes into effect April 1, 2015 for large stores like supermarkets and at smaller retailers October 1, 2015. Instead of plastic, merchants will have to make reusable bags available for purchase or provide paper bags at $.10 per bag. Restaurants, non-profit food banks and thrift stores are exempt from eliminating plastic bags and at grocery stores plastic bags will still be permitted for meat, produce and items like ice cream that need to be separated from other food.

Valley residents will be able to pick up one or two reusable bags anytime Monday – Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. while supplies last.
