(Palm Desert, CA) – As the craziness of the holiday season approaches, the students of the College of the Desert Dramatic Arts Department are preparing to add to the chaos with another production of the hit comedy series “The Improv Games”.  The show will feature a raucous evening of original material and improvisational comedy.

“The audience will literally dictate everything the performers do on stage,” says Director & C.O.D. Assistant Professor of Theatre, Tres Dean.  “Improvisation is the foundation of so many aspects of acting and performing.  Improv calls upon the performer to think on their feet, immediately bring a character to life, and fully commit to that character.  When you add the unpredictable suggestions and guidance of the audience, you have the recipe for an extremely entertaining experience.”

Improvisational Theatre is the backbone of iconic television mainstays such as Saturday Night Live and “Who’s Line Is It Anyway?”.  It has also given birth to live venues and training facilities such as The Second City, The Groundlings, and The Upright Citizens Brigade.

The ensemble cast consists of current C.O.D. students and local professional performers including Jennifer Bennett (currently training with the world famous improvisation studio “The Groundlings” in Hollywood) Tamami Ono, Nina Charming, Renee Borgeau, Chris Hoggatt, Christopher A. Moody, Miranda Hane, Armando Robles, Anthony Gomez, Carson Graf, David Loperena, Lindsey Gilbert, and Gabriella St. Claire.

For ticket information and reservations, please call 760-776-7370.  Tickets are $5.00 for C.O.D. students and $10.00 general admission.  All proceeds benefit the students of the C.O.D. Dramatic Arts Department.  The performance is recommended for mature audiences for possible language.
