Art Under The Umbrellas at Old Town

The seasonal art exhibit showcased local artists at Old Town, La Quinta.

On Oct. 29, the La Quinta Arts Foundation presented the seasonal Art under the Umbrellas event at Old Town. Over 75 local artists exhibited their creations underneath umbrella-embellished booths throughout Main Street.

Mosaic tiles glistened against midday sunlight, water colors breathed still life into desert heat, and the pungent aroma of fresh paint wafted in the breeze. Of the artists featured, most were long-time attendees of the festival and have been honing their craft for years.

“I’ve been painting for almost all my life; I started when I was about six-years-old and loved it ever since. I even taught high school art classes for a while,” stated artist Elaine Mathews, a five-year Art under the Umbrellas veteran.
