Completion of Adams Street Bridge Underway

After five months of initial work, the Adams Street Bridge in La Quinta is entering its final phases of construction.

In an effort to alleviate flooding issues and improve traffic conditionsin La Quinta, the construction of the Adams Street Bridge at the low water crossing at Adams Street and the Whitewater River began in late June.

With all inital work such as a bypass road to carry heavy traffic to the east of the pre-existing roadway and the application of 290 cubic yards of concrete on the channel's Northeastern slope completed, construction of the next phase is slated to start.

The western half of the 525 foot-long bridge crossing marks this phase, resulting in the re-routing of traffc to clear the way for the Capital Improvement Project. Additional improvements include six-foot sidewalks on both sides of the bridge, a twelve-foot median curb island, and four travel lanes.

Despite weather delays and the closing of the western sidewalk to pedestrians, all nearby businesses are open during the construction of the Adams Street Bridge Project.
