La Quinta High School Club Spotlight: The Birdcage

Blackhawks are in The Birdcage. I repeat, Blackhawks are in The Birdcage.

A new club has emerged on campus with a goal in mind to promote school pride and get LQ Blackhawks involved in all school activities—whether it be sports, dances, or spirit days. The Birdcage (also known as the Spirit Flock) has been a club literally a year in the making, with leaders Copeland Sheldon and Geoffrey McManus advocating for the creation of this club since 2011.

Word has spread rapidly about The Birdcage and each club meeting has amounted to over 40 people in attendance.  “I feel that our club has really improved the school spirit of LQHS. I think this can be the beginning of something incredibly exciting and positive for our current and future Blackhawks,” expressed Sheldon

The club also has a Twitter and Facebook page where students can find dates of every LQHS sport game, information on spirit days, and any planned activities like making posters or banners.

The Birdcage holds its meetings during lunch on Mondays in P-11. Make the most out of your high school years by taking on a more active role at LQHS, and joining The Birdcage looks like the right place to start.
