La Quinta Takes on the Humana Challenge

Several Humana sponsored events are coming to the city of La Quinta.

An announcement was made earlier this year that the famed Bob Hope Classic would be re-named the Humana Challenge for the 2012 year. With this new title comes various new promotional events and activities to encourage La Quinta residents to make healthier lifestyle choices.

In January, 2012, Humana will sponsor several festivities that exhibit the message of global wellness, the first of which being a special appearance by a renowned chef at the Certified Farmers Market in Old Town. The event will feature a food demonstration showcasing healthy meal options, and Humana Challenge informational booths on Jan. 8.

The Humana Wellness Walk comes to the desert on Jan. 14. La Quinta residents can participate in the free Wellness Walk on Bear Creek Path, located at Calle Tampico and Eisenhower.

Also on January 14 is the much anticipated Healthy Fun Fair at the La Quinta Community Park. Enjoy entertaining activities, healthy food vendors, and musical acts in a family-friendly environment. The festival is free for all attendees and starts at 10 a.m.

All of these featured events coincide with the Humana Challenge Golf Tournament on January 19-22 (formerly known as the Bob Hope Classic). The tournament played on lush La Quinta golf courses will include professional and celebrity players.
