Summer Movie Madness

A quick overview of some successful movie releases from this summer.

Summer 2012 had its fair share of ups and downs when attributed to the world of cinema (vampire-hunting presidents, talking teddy bears, and superheroes galore, just to spare a guess). With sold-out tickets and major blockbuster releases, summer also brought a mix of movies that dominated at the box office.

Brave - In Pixar's latest animated feature, young Merida must break a witch's spell that has come over her mother--all while sporting wild red locks and archery skills that would put any Disney Princess to shame.

The Dark Knight Rises - Despite the midnight premiere massacre in Aurora, Colorado, the final installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy still managed to skyrocket in box office sales, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 2012 behind The Avengers.

Men in Black 3 - Trademark suits and sunglasses in tow, Agent J and Agent K returned to the big screen in a whole new extraterrestrial adventure complete with time-travel, falling asteroids, and twice the villain (no typo).

Katy Perry: Part of Me - Pop icon Katy Perry took the world by storm one teenage dream at a time with her 3-D concert experience, which treated audiences to a behind-the-scenes look into the singer's California Dreams Tour.

The Amazing Spider-Man - There was no Tobey Maguire, but New York's favorite web-slinger did return in this reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise as he faced off against a reptilian foe.

You';re welcome, Renee but I don't really expect thanks for my contributions to the classroom. IRead More wasn't going to stand by and see kids not have the basic things they needed to get through the class and most teachers are of the same mind :) Sadly, school budgets have never covered all the needs in classrooms.

Dorothy you actually believe criminals can't get guns without a background check. Wow are youRead More naive. Just because YOU don't understand why some people want a particular weapon...does not mean you can impose your ownership standards on someone else. Suppose I suggest you don't need the particular car you drive or the particlar beverage you drink? I see you are opposed to hunting. How do you feel about abortion? Typical liberal double standard at play here??

Totally agree. This is just the beginning of a gun grab. All it will accomplish is furtherRead More restrictions on law abiding citizens. Chicago is a perfect example. Strictest gun control in the nation and highest gun crime and murder rate. Criminals do not comply with the law. Only legal citizens will lose their rights to own the weapon of their choice. Liberals are all about choice when it comes to killing an unborn, but when it comes to a lawful gunowner's choice it's a different story altogether.
