What could possibly represent the single biggest causal factor for the increase in fatal car crashes?

According to statistics provided by the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) automobile accidents claimed about 16,000 lives from January 2012 through June 2012 -- a 9% jump that represents the highest first-half increase since the government began tracking crash-related deaths.  This year's increase in fatalities also marks a reversal of the downward highway death toll trend of recent years.  READ THE REST
