For the next month, a stretch of Highway 111 in Palm Desert will be restricted as street crews make repairs and improvements— all associated with the expansion of the One Eleven Town Center and two big name additions.
The thoroughfare will be partially closed for a half-mile stretch near the Westfield Mall, between Town Center Way and Desert Crossings, CHP officials announced Thursday.
"Construction has begun on the property for the 2014 anticipated openings of Whole Foods and Nordstrom Rack," a city alert stated.
According to that alert:
Segments of the westbound and eastbound lanes of Highway 111 between Town Center Way and the entrance to Desert Crossing will be closed for more than a month to allow for ingress/egress improvements and median work associated with the expansion of One Eleven Town Center.
"Motorists are highly recommended to avoid the area and use Fred Waring Drive as an alternate route," CHP Spokesman Joe Zagorski said.
