Flash Flood Watch Issued For Valley

A tropical storm brought thunderstorms and some heavy rainfall to parts of the desert and surrounding mountains.

A flash flood watch was issued Wednesday for the Palm Desert area as a tropical storm brought thunderstorms to the area.

Lightning could be seen in the Santa Rosa Mountains south of Palm Desert.

The watch was issued through 11 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The storm could produce brief periods of heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding on the valley floor, the weather service advised.
