High Wind Warnings Posted For Tonight

High winds return to the valley Friday night, drivers on I-10 cautioned about slowing sand.

The National Weather Service office in San Diego has issued a High Wind Warning for the Coachella Valley, lasting through 3:00 p.m. Saturday.

Northeast winds from 25 to 25 miles per hour are expected across the valley, with gusts of up to 60 miles per hour.  This is lower than the 70 mile an hour winds that ravaged the valley last week, causing downed trees and power lines from Palm Springs to Indio.

The strongest winds are expected north on Interstate 10, especially along the foothills.  Driving along I-10 can become difficult at times because of blowing sand, and for drivers of high-profile vehicles.
