How To Pay Respects To Betty Ford

The public is invited to attend the repose starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Those wishing to pay their respects in person to former first lady Betty Ford will have a chance starting a 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Highway 74 -- the main roadway that goes by St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Palm Desert, where the memorial service will take place -- will be closed to the public from 4 a.m. Tuesday to 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The public will be able to gain access to the church by parking at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, 78200 Miles Avenue in Indian Wells, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

A shuttle bus will then take visitors to the church, where they will be allowed in starting at 5 p.m. until midnight.

No cameras, recording devices, backpacks, purses, strollers or bags of any kind will be allowed on the bus or in the church, the sheriff's department reported.
