Just Before Spring, Storm Brings Snow

A cold Pacific storm brought up to 18 inches of snow to Mount San Jacinto and as much as six inches to the nearby Santa Rosa Mountains.

After a mostly dry winter, a strong Pacific storm dumped snow on the mountains surrounding the Coachella Valley, making for a picturesque morning.

Up to 18 inches were reported in the local San Jacinto Mountains, according to the National Weather Service.

The Mountain Station of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway now has two feet of snow, said Lena Zimmerschied, a spokeswoman for the tram.
