McCallum Theatre Seeks Local Talent

Talented valley residents sought for 14th annual Open Call Talent Project.

The McCallum Theatre Institute, the theater's education division, is accepting entries through Jan. 4 for its 14th annual Open Call Talent Project.

Local residents who "sing, dance, play an instrument, juggle, perform
magic, comedy or any other self-contained novelty act'' can enter, theater
spokeswoman Cate Ervin said.

It's free to enter, but applicants must be at least 8 years old and live
within 45 miles of the McCallum, Ervin said. Auditions will begin in late
January.

Finalists will appear in four performances. The first three performances will
include an audience vote.  The final performance will add the audience vote to the judges votes.

$1,500 will be awarded to the winner, with $750 going to the runner up.
