Minor Earthquake Felt in Palm Desert

Small earthquake felt lightly in Palm Desert, but more in western Riverside County.

A magnitude 3.4 earthquake was felt by some desert residents early this afternoon. 

The quake, at 12:44 p.m. along the San Jacinto Fault, was centered 5 miles southeast of Valle Vista, and 20 miles west-southwest of Palm Springs. 

According to the USGS, it was felt mostly in the Inland Empire, from Chino to Idyllwild and as far south as Vista in northern San Diego County. KESQ Television reported receiving calls from Palm Desert residents that felt the shaking.
