Muggy weather on its way out

It will feel less humid Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Muggy weather that hit the Palm Desert area over the weekend was moving on today, despite some lingering humidity and mountain showers.

Showers were reported for about 20 minutes in the La Quinta Cove, with thunder heard overhead.

It will feel humid today in the Palm Desert area because the dew point remains high. Highs were expected to hit 107, National Weather Service meteorologist James Thomas said.

Humidity was expected to be around 50 percent and only a 20 percent chance of measurable precipitation, according to the NWS.

Dry weather will return Tuesday, he said.

"By Wednesday all the moisture should move off to the east and be in
Arizona,'' he said. "It should feel a little less humid Tuesday, definitely by Wednesday and Thursday.''

A flash flood watch was issued Sunday, and the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway was temporarily closed due to storm-caused electrical issues.
