Occupy Coachella Valley To Protest Bush Visit

The former president will speak on the third day of the conference on Friday, Nov. 11 at 8:30 a.m. at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert.

Occupy Coachella Valley members plan to protest the visit of former President George W. Bush Friday to an Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum in Palm Desert.

The protest is set for 9:30 a.m., just after the president's session is set to end, according to the group. They claim the conference and Bush's visit represents the 1 percent of Americans that control political power and wealth.

Bush, who recently authored the book Decision Points, will speak on the third day of the conference on Friday, Nov. 11 at 8:30 a.m. at the in Palm Desert, according to the conference's website.

He will take part in a session called “Fireside chat” with President George W. Bush, which will be moderated by James S. Turley, Chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young.

The conference is set for Nov. 8-12 at the Palm Desert resort, and will also feature professional tennis player Serena Williams, former NFL quarterback and Super Bowl champion Troy Aikman and Academy Award-winning director Francis Ford Coppola.

A special performance for Veterans Day is set for Friday, Nov. 11 by Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh of The Eagles.

The cost to attend the entire conference, which is sold out, is $3,695. It is not open to the public.
