At $5.45 million, this 4-bedroom home (with a .59-acre lot) comes in as the most expensive home on the market in Palm Desert this week.

This Bighorn residence sits on an elevated parcel that overlooks the 11th fairway on the Canyons Course, according to the listing. The home features an open design, 4.5 bathrooms, a formal living room, dining room, great room, bar, theater, and office.

The 6,580 square-foot property also includes a private one-bedroom guest house.  Also featured is a large infinity pool that overlooks the golf course.  The property has lake and panoramic mountain views.

The home has been on the market for four days as of Monday, according to the listing.

Thanks for featuring these bastions of "wretched excess." I work with people who can't afford most of life's necessities, and these homes are wonderful reminders of what NOT to aspire to.

@misguided votd: on the contrary. if more people aspired to the level of "wretched excess" then we would see more second home "bastions" being built here in the desert. this would result in more jobs being created in the fields of construction, medical personnel, sales people etc. when you and other misguided liberals agree to tax the rich (by voting for obummer) and regulate industry then fewer jobs are created and everyone loses. get it?
