Palm Desert Service Set For Betty Ford

The former first lady and her husband, President Gerald Ford, attended St. Margaret's Episcopal Church since they moved to Rancho Mirage.

Former first lady Betty Ford will be remembered Tuesday at a memorial service at in Palm Desert.

She and her husband, President Gerald Ford, had attended the church since they moved to the Coachella Valley in 1977.

The service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church at 47-535 Highway 74. Ford later will be buried next to her husband, who died in 2006 at the age of 93, at the Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Mich., according to family spokeswoman Barbara Lewandrowski.

Betty Ford is most well known for her work to found the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, as well as her battle with breast cancer.

She died Friday at the age of 93 at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage.
