UPDATE: Power Restored in Palm Desert

Nearly 2,200 effected by morning outage, full service expected by mid-afternoon.

UPDATE: Power was restored to all Woodhaven residents by 3:35 p.m., according to Southern California Edison.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Southern California Edison crews are working to restore power to a Palm Desert neighborhood this afternoon, as extreme temperatures are expected to reach the mid 110s.

Approximately 650 customers have been without power since
4:50 a.m, when underground equipment failed at the Woodhaven Country Club, west of Washington Street and north of Hovely Lane.

Approximately 2200 people were originally affected by the outage.

Edison expects full service to be restored by 3:30 pm.

The extreme high temperatures are predicted to remain through the weekend, with highs of around 115 for most of the Coachella Valley.
