Pedestrian in Critical Condition Following Hit-and-Run

16-year-old boy hit while walking on Deep Canyon Road Monday night

A 16-year old boy is in critical condition after being hit by a car Monday night in Palm Desert, according to police officials. 

The boy was walking in the roadway on Deep Canyon Road, near Fred Waring Drive when he was struck by a vehicle described as a late model white two door compact traveling northbound on Deep Canyon at about 7:35 p.m.   The vehicle did not stop after hitting the juvenile. 

CalFire units assisted in taking the victim to Palm Desert Middle School where an air ambulance transported the teen to a hospital, according to Cal FIRE spokesperson Jody Hagemann.

The driver of the vehicle is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 30 years old, 5-6, 150 pounds with shoulder length black hair. 

Palm Desert Police ask anyone that witnessed the accident to phone investigators at 760-836-1600, and reference case #T12 254 0079.
