Planking Craze Comes To Valley

A Palm Desert resident told a local TV station the Internet sensation is "kind of weird."

A Palm Springs radio station's contest prompted people across the Coachella Valley -- including Palm Desert residents -- to take part in the latest Internet craze of planking.

People across the world have been posing as a wooden plank in photos in public places.

"I think it's kind of weird to be honest," Nick Willis of Palm Desert told KPSP Local 2 of the craze.

KCLB 93.7's listeners photographed their activity on unusual locations including the top of a windmill, a water park sign, and even on top of someone's head.

The latest sensation -- owling -- has taken off online, where a person squats like an owl for a photo.
