Organizers hope to draw 1,000 people and raise more than $100,000, Carter said. Paint El Paseo Pink is the Desert Cancer Foundation's largest fundraiser, benefiting the Suzanne Jackson Breast Cancer Fund.

Last year alone, the event assisted in providing funds that covered early breast cancer detection services for more than 750 local women,'' Carter said.

A health fair featuring booths staffed by cancer-related organizations is an addition to this year's walk, she said. There will also be a dog booth and music by local high school band One 11.

IF YOU GO: The event is Saturday, Oct. 15 at 8:30 a.m. with the pre-walk program beginning at 9:45 a.m., in the center garden court of the Gardens on El Paseo. Participants will begin their walk at 10 a.m. along the streets of El Paseo.
