UPDATE: I-10 Lanes Reopened After Closure

The closure started around 10 a.m. and lasted about four hours, officials said.

The fast lane of westbound Interstate 10 east of Monterey Avenue in Palm Desert was closed for four hours today while the California Highway Patrol performed a follow-up investigated on a crash, a CHP officer said.

The closure started around 10 a.m. and lasted about four hours, CHP Officer Joe Zagorski said.

"Officers performing the investigation may need additional lanes for short periods of time,'' he said.

The lane was reopened about 2 p.m., according to a Caltrans spokesperson.

The officer did not say which crash they were investigating, but a 9-month-old child was killed in a crash at that location on Feb. 6.
