TRAFFIC ALERT: Gene Autry Back Open After Sand Closure
Valley motorists headed home Wednesday afternoon can again take Gene Autry Trail, since police have just reopened it to traffic.
After nearly four days, a major Valley thoroughfare is now back open to motorists.
Palm Springs police said they reopened Gene Autry Trial in both directions between via Escuela and Interstate 10 at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday.
It had been closed since just after midnight Sunday, due to strong winds and sand in the area.

Indian Canyon had also been closed, but that reopened Tuesday afternoon.
Traffic at Date Palm had suffered due to the closures, as that was one of the primary alternates motorists took.
