UPDATE: Wind Advisory Lifted

Gusts up to 55 mph were recorded in parts of the Coachella Valley, the National Weather Service reported.

A wind advisory was issued Monday for Palm Desert, with gusts up to 55 mph expected in some areas of the Coachella Valley.

The advisory was in effect from noon Monday to 3 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The winds were expected to be around 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph in some desert areas, the weather service reported.

Visibility was decreased along Interstate 10 because of blowing dust and sand, according to the NWS.

Motorists should be on the look out for the possibility of broken tree limbs and down power lines, forecasters warned.

The advisory was issued as a low pressure system moved inland across Southern California.
