UPDATE: Wind Advisory Lifted For Valley

The first in a series of storms brought winds with gusts up to 55 mph Wednesday.

The first of two storms from the Gulf of Alaska produced wind gusts up to 55 mph Wednesday and into Thursday in the Palm Desert area, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory was in effect from 1 p.m. Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday, the weather service reported.

Sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph were reported with gusts up to 55 mph, forecasters warned.

The valley saw some rain from Palm Springs to Palm Desert, according to broadcast reports.

Wednesday's high reached about 76 degrees with an overnight low of 59 degrees. Today should reach 78 degrees.
