Update 12:40 pm. First Solar officials have updated information on how people can make contributions to assist the families of Mike Cyr and Jeff Randall, who died Monday in a plane crash near the Desert Sunlight Solar Project in Desert Center.

Previous plans to allow contributions to a "Mike Cyr & Jeff Randall Family Memorial Fund" have been cancelled due to tax implications for the Cyr and Randall families, Steve Krum of First Solar said in a phone interview at 12:20 p.m. Aug. 30.

Instead, First Solar officials intend to set up a trust fund for the families of Mike Cyr and Jeff Randall, Krum said.

"A memorial trust is being set up on behalf of the families of Mike Cyr and Jeff Randall," First Solar officials said in a statement. "Details will be provided when the trust is in place."

Anyone who wants to contribute and assist the Cyr and Randall families was urged to wait for details about the trust fund, Krum said.
