Free Environmental Expo in Palm Desert Thursday, Friday
The event is hosted at CSUSB Palm Desert and will also feature award-winning science fair projects from students across the Coachella Valley.
Cal State San Bernardino's Palm Desert Campus will host its fourth annual Environmental and Sustainability Expo starting Thursday.
Robert Phalen, associate professor of health science and human ecology at Cal State, and Jack Porrelli, legislative analyst at the Coachella Valley Water District, will speak at 5:30 p.m. at the Indian Wells Theater. The event continues Friday.
Phalen will speak about the "Sustainable Goods Movement: Maintaining the Economy, Environment and Equity," and Porelli's topic is "Keeping the Valley Green: Connecting the Drops."

Friday will feature award-winning science fair and environmental club projects from students from Coachella Valley school districts and local private schools. Cal State San Bernardino faculty will demonstrate recent research on environmental science, and representatives from local green industries will speak to students about working in their fields.
Also on Friday, Michaeleen Gallagher, director of education and environmental programs at Rancho Mirage estate Sunnylands, will speak, and students from the Palm Springs Unified School District will screen their environment-related digital films.

The Environmental and Sustainability Expo is sponsored by the campus's Palm Springs Institute for Environmental Sustainability.
