Friday Fuel-Up: Highest Labor Day Prices on Record
Prices locally are still below the regional average
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire rose today for the eighth consecutive day, increasing three-tenths of a cent to $4.133, its highest amount since June 8.
Prices in and around Palm Desert have been seen closer to $4.00 per gallon.
The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 3.2 cents
more than a week ago, 33.5 cents higher than one month ago and 31.8 cents
greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price
Information Service.

The average price has risen 3.6 cents over the past eight days,
including four-tenths of a cent on Thursday.
"Due to the price spike earlier this month, Labor Day weekend travelers
will be paying the highest gas prices ever for this holiday,'' said Jeffrey
Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
