Travellers from Palm Springs will have a new non-stop connection to New York, as Virgin America announced a weekly direct flight to JFK starting in December.
“Since entering these Palm Springs markets, we’ve seen strong demand for our unique flight service. We’re pleased to be expanding in the market and offering a new nonstop option for travelers coming from New York to the desert this winter,” said John MacLeod, Senior Vice President of Planning and Sales at Virgin America.
The service, beginning December 22nd, will depart Palm Springs at 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays, arriving in New York at 10:50 p.m. The flight is the return leg of an out-and-back flight from JFK which arrives in the desert at 2:00 p.m.
“New York is a growing market for Palm Springs and we look forward to hosting many new and returning guests seeking a warm destination to escape the cold winters,” said James Canfield, Executive Director of Palm Springs Convention Center and Bureau of Tourism.
The flight will be the only non-stop service to the east coast from Palm Springs.
Currently, Virgin America only flies to San Francisco from Palm Springs, with connections available to 17 other cities.
