The Black Friday Scourge

Online shopping seems more like the way to go during the busiest shopping time of the year.

I am not a shopper. I absolutely loathe shopping. When I'm forced to do it, it literally takes me less than five minutes to find what I need and get the heck out of dodge. I may take a few more minutes when shopping for a gift, but even then, I tend to online shop.

One year, my sister guilted me into the whole "camp out at the crack of dawn" for Black Friday shopping. (Notice I said ONE year) It was crazy! The lines were ridiculous to get IN the store, and even more ridiculous to get OUT of the store. Freezing my toosh outside in line at 3 am is so not how I wanted to spend my day after Thanksgiving! She's lucky she had just given birth to my twin nephews!

I understand the great prices that you'll never see again this year. But what I don't understand is the craziness of it all. People literally fought over an item in the store! Someone please explain to me the importance of the lines, craziness, and violence over one sale. I just don't get it.

Am I a buhumbug scrooge because I can't get into the spirit of Black Friday shopping? Is it like a right of passage into the Holiday season? My shopping has been done over a month ago, all due to a little thing called "Online shopping"! If you start now, you can receive your orders before the big day! Or ship them directly to the person!

Why do you "Black Friday" shop? Or do you online shop too? Am I really alone in not understanding the whole thing?
