Time to Go! Assemblyman Brian Nestande leaves state GOP post!

A billion dollar tax increase - GOP Caucus Leader Nestande provides the key vote for passage. Ex-Republican sells out on tax hikes and unions!

Brian Nestande, CA Republican, Resigns As Chair After Voting With Democrats To Increase Taxes

Ex-Republican sells out on tax hikes! Brian Nestande aligns with Democratic Party and with unions! Nestande was the deciding vote, giving Democrats the two-thirds majority they needed to send the bill on to the Senate. Soon after, Palm Desert Assembly was rewarded with a $7,800 campaign donation from an SEIU local union and was given over $178,000.00 by other Sacramento union lobbyist in the last 2 years.

We have been betrayed again by yet another so-called "small government" and "anti-tax" Republican. Anti-tax voters have been betrayed by California GOP leaders over and over and over again.  Republicans leaders from Governor Schwarzenegger to Lt. Governor Able Maldonado to GOP leaders in the legislature have all supported tax increases.

California Assemblyman Brian Nestande (R-Palm Desert) committed the ultimate Republican sin and voted with Democrats to "increase taxes" with AB 1500 Monday. Less than 24 hours later, he stepped down as Republican Caucus Chair.

Nestande's vote helped Pérez secure the two-thirds supermajority needed for passage of AB 1500. If the bill clears the Senate and is signed into law, the billion dollars it raises would be used for college scholarships for students, including the controversial CALIFORNIA DREAM ACT STUDENTS!

Our current Assemblymember Brian Nestande and his office was unable to be reached for comment.
