What are Those Knuckleheads at BUSD Up To Now?

Assuming the district will be eliminating transportation next year, what’s the reason for the later start times.

Since our school district refuse to embrace technology of the 21st century in their methods of communications with parents, we are forced to wait for the flyer in our kids’ backpacks or hope we don’t hang-up too soon on the daily robo-call to get important information. We just received a flyer in my son’s back pack with revised starting and ending times for next year. Our flyer only addresses Anna Hause and Brookside so I am hoping other parents can fill us all in with the information for their schools and see if we can figure out what Dr. Kayrell and The Collective are up to now.

Brookside and Anna Hause will now be starting at 9:00 am and getting out at 3:20 pm on regular days (1:53 pm on those minimum days we all love so much…not!).

I am sure parents who drop their kids off at school on their way to work are going to have some issues with these new times. I wonder if the high school will be having a revised schedule as well, if not, Brookside parents picking up their kids will now have to deal with the high school traffic as well as traffic from the Taj Mahal.

Assuming the district will be eliminating transportation next year, what’s the reason for the later start times? Do you think anyone in the district will ask parents what they think? I would love to be able to send the district an email or pick up the phone and call to get my answers but I’m not sure if I would be following the latest policy and I would probably have to wait a month for an answer; I'm sure couldn’t afford the documentation fees anyways.

Please leave a comment about what you found in your kids back pack.

The board doesn't care what any parent has to say. That's their problem. I have addressed the board and sent emails. I am not happy about the 9am start time at Anna Hause. Luckily, my son is going into middle school next year. I'm not thrilled with the education at either of our middle schools, so I did the inter-district transfer for next year. He will be going to a magnet (public) school in Calimesa with about 6 other kids from Beaumont. Now, I have to fight to keep him there since the board decided to make the inter-district transfers up for denial each year and only good for 5 years. It's sad that I will have to drive 8 miles to get my son to a good school.

I admire your tenacity in dealing with "The Collective". Perhaps we could "clone" you and take on the "Animal Farm" (aka Beaumont City Council) . Few seemed to be interested in how this City is run. I would appreciate your perspective, tho I completely understand your childrens needs are a priority, on just some observations made here...No one else seems to care... http://banning-beaumont.patch.com/blog_posts/beaumont-observations

Mrs. Gutierrez - Not all parents - such as myself - have adequate transportation to get to/from the board meetings. Besides, not ALL board meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month. There have been several months lately where the meetings have been on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month - rather ironic that those are the same nights as the Beaumont City Council meetings. Makes me really wonder if BUSD administration has something to hide when they - clearly and obviously - schedule their meetings for the same Tuesday nights as the BCC. I have called and emailed District administration my concerns on many things. Guess what happens? It all falls on deaf ears. That bunch could really care less about the parents and kids that they were elected to serve. They would rather bow down to the almighty Kayrell and kiss his bum for fear of making him mad. Poor itty bitty Mr. Kayrell. What's the matter - someone hurt his feelings??? HA!!! That's if he has any. He only cares about himself and fattening his wallet at the expense of everyone else. So, let's NOT make everyone's ability to attend board meetings as simple or easy as you imply. You don't know everyone's story, you don't know everyone's journey.

I have also gone to board meetings, just to be clear. I know firsthand what it is like to be ignored to my face by the BUSD board. Been there, done that. It's part of why I don't go anymore. Aside from transportation issues. It is frustrating, so I can understand how Lloyd feels. I've gotten past being frustrated with the board (regardless of who sits on it at any given moment), or who our district supe may be at any given moment. I have taken my frustration and turned it into passion for my kids' education. My eldest has now since graduated in gold, and my other (I have 2 kids) child is starting their sophomore year at BHS. This one also finished his freshman year with straight A+'s, 4.0 GPA, ranked 1st among ALL his classmates. So, anyone want to tell me again how I "don't" do this-that-or the other as it directly relates to my kids' education? Anyone want to try to tell me again how I'm not an involved parent? If I'm not involved, then my kids would NOT be the academic success stories that they are, and I would not be the Sp Ed parent that sits on the BUSD CAHSEE Advisory Committee. That's right - I am the Sp Ed parent on the BUSD CAHSEE Advisory Committee. I also have a folder full of emails to BUSD district personnel, board members, etc. Now tell me again how involved I'm not, and I will flood out your email with my proof. Go on, try me. I'm ready for that challenge, if you can call it a challenge.
