A trial readiness conference is scheduled today for Jamie Smith, a former College of the Desert football player who faces assault and attempted murder charges for allegedly stabbing another player.
Smith remains in custody on $1 million bail following the 2011 in the 77700 block of Country Club Drive.
Smith is accused of stabbing a teammate over possible stolen property in the Desert Oasis apartment complex that housed a number of COD players.
According to court records, Smith's trial is tentatively scheduled to begin on September 26.
