Elderly Palm Desert Duo Killed in Fallbrook Crash

A Palm Desert couple who died following in a collision on Old Highway 395 near Fallbrook were identified Monday.

Myles Monte Spicer, 81, and Ursula Sleep, 80, were fatally injured when their 2013 Hyundai Azera collided with a pickup truck as Spicer tried to make a u-turn shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday south of Stuart Canyon Road, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office and the California Highway Patrol.

Spicer and Sleep were taken to Palomar Medical Center following the crash. Spicer was declared dead at 4:47 p.m. Saturday, followed by Sleep just over an hour later, officials with the county Medical Examiner's Office said.

The pickup truck's driver was taken to a hospital to be treated for of chest and knee pain, authorities said.
