Man Dies Following Accident at Indian Wells Tennis Garden Construction Site

A 55-year-old Moreno Valley man died Monday following an accident at the construction site of the new Indian Wells Tennis Garden Stadium 2, sheriff's officials reported.

The accident, reported at 11 a.m., happened when Daniel Duncan collapsed, fell and hit his head, according to Sheriff's Sgt. Andy Martinez.

"Paramedics were summoned to the scene and transported Duncan to a local area hospital," Martinez said.  "Duncan ultimately succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital."

According to IWTG Spokesman Matt Van Tuinen, Duncan had suffered a heart attack just prior to his fall.

"We have since learned from his family that he passed away from an apparent heart attack," Van Tuinen said in an emailed statement Monday night.

The spokesman said Duncan by construction subcontractor Pacific Southwest Structures.

"The team at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and Watkins Landmark Construction, are deeply saddened at this loss of life and extend their deepest sympathies to the worker's family and loved ones," he added.
