Have you ever heard of the "Suicide Disease" or Trigeminal Neuralgia? It's a very painful and debilitating illness that can strike anyone, for unknown reasons and will bring its sufferers to their knees when an episode hits. There is no cure for Trigeminal Neuralgia, only invasive brain surgery with a 60% success rate in pain relief and only 45% of Trigeminal Neuralgia sufferers are even eligible for this surgery. For people not eligible for surgery, they must rely on heavy duty medications and opiates for thier pain relief, with side effects that take a hugh toll on the body. The medications do not bring total pain relief, they only take the edge off the pain, so that sufferers can at least have some sort of normalcy. The TNNME organization is requesting the World Health Organization (WHO) to add "Trigeminal Neuralgia" to their "Health Topics" list.
By WHO adding Trigeminal Neuralgia to their list of illnesses, it will expand awareness, grant access to resources and create opportunities for funding & research.
