Too Cute! Watch as Baby Jaguars Get First Check Up at Living Desert

The jaguar cubs received a clean bill of health, zoo officials announced this week.

The Living Desert is excited to announce that its two jaguar cubs are both healthy boys. The cubs, weighing in at 12 pounds each, recently underwent their first examination by the Zoo’s veterinarian at their holding area behind the exhibit.      

 

“We are so proud of these little cubs and happy to report good news,” said Allen Monroe, President/CEO. “They are completely healthy and developing at the expected rate.”

The wellness check-up included listening to their heart and lungs, getting weighed, and an examination of their teeth, eyes and ears. In addition, they also received their first set of vaccinations.

The yet-to-be-named cubs were born on April 26th to Magia and Memo who were brought together as part of the Species Survival Plan. They are the first ever jaguar cubs birthed at The Living Desert. The cubs are expected to be on exhibit for public viewing sometime in September.

 

The Living Desert is open daily 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., with last admission at 1 p.m.  General admission is $17.25 Adults; $15.75 Seniors & Military; $8.75 Children 3 – 12; Children under 3 are Free.
