62-Year-Old Arrested on DUI Charges in Hwy 111 Crash

Sheriff's deputies say the man drove his car into the back of a trailer being towed along Highway 111 Saturday.

A 62-year-old La Quinta man is behind bars in Indio, suspected of driving drunk and crashing into a trailer on Highway 111, police said.

Sheriff's Sergeant Patrick Carroll says Adriane Charlton was behind the wheel of a Jeep Wrangler that crashed at around 4:30 p.m. on Hwy. 111 and Indian Wells Lane, near the Renaissance Esmeralda.

"The investigation determined a Jeep Wrangler and Chevrolet Silverado towing a trailer were travelling eastbound on Hwy. 111 when the driver of the Jeep Wrangler ran into the back of the trailer being towed by the Chevrolet Silverado as they were approaching a red light," Carroll said.

Charlton was arrested at the location on suspicion of driving under the influence, and booked into the Indio jail, according to Carroll.

"No injuries were sustained and it is believed that alcohol consumption was a factor in this collision," the sergeant added.
